Visions of the End Times

John tells us he was granted his revelation while ‘on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus’. The visions are often quite complex, but fortunately their central message can be grasped without overdue attention to the details, fascinating though these may be. Here we catch the full sweep of the message, for if we start by concentrating on the detail we may fail to see the wood for the trees and end with strange interpretations — like many that have been drawn from this book and have plagued the Church down the centuries.
